Agriturismo in Puglia (Apulia)

Beach, culture, nature: Puglia has got it all. I – Margot – have selected a number of wonderful agriturismos in this southern region of Italy. Every agriturismo in Puglia on my website has been personally visited by me. And selected for quality, atmosphere, and hospitality.

The map above shows all my agriturismos in Puglia. Since I only select the very best of them, they get booked quickly. So don’t delay!

The best beaches in Italy

Puglia (in English also called ‘Apulia’) is situated in the far south-east of Italy.  It covers the entire stiletto heel of Italy. Puglia is sun-bleached and sea-weathered; the beach and the deep azure waters of the Ionian or Adriatic Sea are never far away.

Puglia has some of Italy’s finest beaches. You can also choose to relax in one of the many bays along the coast: the small sandy beaches between the rocks are enchanting places for sunbathing and swimming. There are many beautiful seaside resorts here, Otranto and Gallipoli, for example, both situated in the southernmost part of the region.

Wine and olive oil

The interior is worth a visit too, with its sloping hills clothed with forests, vineyards and olive groves. Puglia produces 40% of Italy’s olive oil, and is also known as ‘the wine cellar of Europe’, with 15% of Italy’s wines produced here, ‘Primitivo’ being the best known, and my favourite too. The region is furthermore famous for its delicious cuisine in which seafood plays a large role.

Ancient villages, towns and cities

Puglia has lovely cities where one can enjoy Italian culture, history, and hospitality. The pearl of these cities is Lecce: after you’ve explored and enjoyed its baroque piazzas, historic buildings, and fun shops, there are hip bars and restaurants with lively terraces that invite the thirsty visitor to sit down and relax over a good glass of wine. Ostuni is also well worth a visit. This little cliff-top town is also called ‘the White City’ (Città Bianca) on account of its row of interlocking whitewashed houses striding up the cliff.

A holiday in Puglia is incomplete without a visit to Alberobello. This little town gained fame for its more than one thousand trulli: little houses with conical roofs, that are typical of this region. Alberobello is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and that is reflected in the number of tourists. There are other towns nearby, like Cisternino and Locorotondo, where you can enjoy a large number of trulli too, in greater peace and quiet.

A luxurious, authentic agriturismo in Puglia

Have you set your mind on a holiday in Puglia? And you’re looking for accommodation that leaves nothing to be desired? I have selected the most beautiful agriturismos in Puglia for you. An agriturismo is a working farm that offers luxury holiday accommodation. An apartment, room, or villa. In the region of Puglia, an agriturismo is also called a ‘masseria’, which also means farmhouse.

The agriturismos that I have selected for you in Puglia are all situated in the countryside, centrally located in the region. That makes it just as easy for you to visit the beach and the lovely towns.

A child-friendly agriturismo in Puglia

For families with young children, I recommend booking a child-friendly agriturismo. Child-friendly agriturismos take children into account: They have a swimming pool, sometimes with separate pool for the tiny ones, and a playground or football field. In short, your child has lots of room for play and discovery there, with other playmates. Carefree enjoyment for the entire family.
