Agriturismo in Calabria
Calabria is the toe of Italy’s boot. This region has soft sandy beaches, a mountainous interior and delightful towns. With the exception of the month of August – when many Italians like to holiday here - there is no mass tourism. I – Margot – have selected a wonderful agriturismo in Calabria. I visited it personally, and selected it for its quality, charm, and hospitality.
The map above shows the location of my agriturismo in Calabria. Don’t delay booking it, or you may be in for a disappointment.
Welcome to the Maldives of Italy
Calabria is situated in the south-west of Italy, south of Naples. It is surrounded by two seas on three sides. Its coastline measures over 800 kilometres. The sea water is so clear that it has become known as the Maldives of Italy.
Many lovely beaches to enjoy
Calabria borders on the Thyrrenean sea in the west and the Ionian Sea in the east. You will find lively, popular sea resorts on its coasts, with idyllic quiet coves and all the facilities anyone on a beach holiday could wish for.
You could visit the Coast of the Gods, for instance, between Pizzo and Nicotera. A coastal area with beautiful bays and rugged cliffs with villages perched on top of them. The best-known sea resort on this coast is Tropea. From the village you have a lovely view over the white beach and azure sea. Its many beaches make Calabria an ideal holiday destination for the Italians.
Mountains, hills, forests and water
As soon as you turn away from the coast to venture inland, you enter authentic Italian countryside. A fantastic mix of mountainous landscapes, green hills, woods, rivers and lakes. Particularly stunning is Sila National Park, in the southern Apennines. A lush green array of mountains, hills and forests. A great place for hiking or challenging bike rides.
Sample Calabria’s wines and rich cuisine
Calabria produces a substantial volume of wine and olive oil. The region has also gained fame for its special vegetable dishes, its typical sweet red onions and its fine cheeses. If you like spicy food, you’ve come to the right place too, because they are never stingy with the pepperoncini!
A luxurious agriturismo in Calabria
Calabria offers a perfect combination of beach, culture, and nature, without mass tourism. Would you like to spend your holiday here, in cosy and hospitable accommodation? I have selected an authentic and charming agriturismo for you here. An agriturismo is a working farm that offers comfortable holiday accommodation.
