Modern residence in the Dolomites within walking distance of village and cable car

Even though I’ve visited the Dolomites many a time, the diversity of the region never fails to astound me. The varied sports activities that one can undertake, for instance, but also the numerous possibilities for those who want to relax. What is also special about this region is that German is spoken here, even though you’re in Italy. This hotel residence is situated at the foot of a mountain with a skiing resort at the top. The accommodation is modern and hospitable, and this family hotel is now being run by the third generation. 

Active types can do what they love most: skiing, mountain biking or hiking, with fantastic panoramic views. And after such a day in the mountains, isn’t it lovely to return to your comfortable apartment or cosy room in the hotel? Just taking things easy and relaxing is possible here too, you can for instance join yoga classes, spend time in and by the pool or in the fitness centre. On my search of discovery, I used the nearby lift to take me to the top of the mountain, where I enjoyed the breath-taking view on a sun-drenched terrace. Did the world come to a stop here for a while, or was that just a dream? 

Quietly situated at the foot of the mountain

The hotel residence has rooms and apartments, furnished in a modern style, using wood and warm colours that are typical of the Dolomite region. You’ll find the rooms and the breakfast room In the original old farmer’s ‘Hof’ The apartments have been built next to it, and most of them have a lovely view. For the rooms, breakfast is included in the price. Guests of the apartments can opt to include breakfast at an additional fee. The hotel also provides guests with fresh bread.. It’s very simple: you order it in the evening and find a bag with lovely fragrant fresh bread hanging on your door next morning.

The gym, yoga room and games room (for your teenage kids) are in the cellar of the apartment building. If so desired, you can also take yoga lessons here. On the top floor is the spa centre. There is a Finnish sauna and bio-herb sauna. The relaxation room has nice loungers on which you can relax while enjoying the view of the mountains. Outdoors, on the roof, is a whirlpool, which can be used in the evenings as well, (till 8 p.m.) The hotel furthermore has a spacious garden with swimming pool, sun beds and loungers. From your sun bed you have a fantastic view of the mountains.   

Plenty of activities

The hotel is on the edge of a village. There are a number of shops, including a baker and supermarket, within walking distance. You can also walk to the lift to the ski run at the top of the mountain. But if you do not fancy the walk to the lift, you can use the free-of-charge ski bus. Up on the mountain there are ample opportunities for skiing and hiking: there is a playground and a small climbing park, and several restaurants with sun terraces. Daredevils will probably fancy a go on the giant swing suspended above a deep abyss. Or race down the mountain to the village on a mountain bike. I passed on both of these challenges, and instead enjoyed the lovely view of the impressive mountain peaks. Another must is a day trip by mountain bike. The Dolomites are a great region for cycling. At the bike rental, they are happy to advise you on routes that suit your level. You can also simply rent an electric mountain bike. That way everyone can get to the top!

4 km from the accommodation is a lively little town with an attractive shopping street. You will also find many (hip) bars and restaurants here. If you do not mind the drive, you can visit one of the many restaurants in the mountains, typical ‘Stuben’ where you can gorge on local specialties. Speck, for instance, Knödel and Krauti (sauerkraut), but also scrumptious goulash or filled pasta. And of course the region’s world-famous Apfelstrudel. 

Rooms & apartments

The rooms, decorated in Dolomite style, are fitted with a kettle, satellite TV, small fridge (no mini bar), locker and hair dryer. In some rooms, you can request an extra bed. Besides a double bed, the family rooms also have bunk beds in an alcove in the room. The room prices include a buffet breakfast. 

There are 3 types of apartments: Studio (with double bed, kitchenette and sofa in one room), Bilocale (with 1 bedroom) and Trilocale (with 2 bedrooms). All of the apartments have a terrace or balcony and are fitted with a kitchen, kettle, satellite TV, fridge, locker and hair-dryer. Breakfast is not included in the price of the apartments, but you can of course choose to have breakfast in the hotel, at an additional cost.

Favourably situated hotel residence for a fantastic stay in the mountains. Lots of activities nearby, and charming little towns and a village and cable car in walking distance. The garden, swimming pool and spa facilities also make this hotel a lovely place to unwind and relax.
