Child-friendly agriturismo with beautiful pool

Children are more than welcome in this convivial agriturismo. The friendly owner told me that she sometimes hates to see her guests leave, the children in particular. The entire family is involved in the business. The owner’s father and brother took the renovation upon themselves, grandma reigns in the kitchen where she bakes cakes and prepares the loveliest Sicilian dishes, and the owner welcomes the guests. She has an American husband, and therefore speaks fluent English. I was very cordially received with coffee and delicious home-baked cookies.

Large swimming pool with a children’s section and a jacuzzi

The agriturismo is still in business as a farm, the stables are immediately behind the house, and there are several farm animals. Children are allowed to help feed the pigs and give hay to the donkeys. The garden in front of the house is a green oasis with a beautiful view and a prominent pool. The swimming pool is enormous (19x9 metres) and has a jacuzzi and a shallow section for the kids. Children can play to their heart’s content here, and using inflatable toys in the pool is no problem at all. Several sunbeds and parasols are positioned around the pool, and there is a hot outdoor shower as well. The pretty garden also has a zone for making campfires, so you can enjoy the evenings and roast marshmallows.

Breakfast, BBQ and communal dinners

On request, the owners serve breakfast and will even cook a nice dinner with traditional Sicilian dishes. You can choose to dine just with your family, or join the Italian family’s large table. In a corner of the terrace is a BBQ zone that guests can use. You can furthermore book a massage and several activities such as bike tours in the region with an English-speaking guide (the owner’s husband).

The apartments

The agriturismo has five apartments, each with its own sitting area on the joint veranda, and some apartments have a balcony. All apartments have wifi, airco, washing machine, LED TV, and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, blender and an oven.

In short

A cosy, informal and child-friendly agriturismo with hospitable proprietors, centrally located in Sicily. Ragusa Iblea, the lively old district of the city of Ragusa is only a 15-minute drive. The nearest village is 5 km away. There are a few shops in this characteristic village, amongst them a greengrocer, a baker, and a couple of bars. Other places that are definitely worth a visit are Modica (35 minutes), Scicli (45 minutes), Noto (1 hour) and Syracuse (1 hour). The beach can be reached within 45 minutes.
